On June 19, 2017, HUNAU organized international students to go to Shaping Town, the birthplace of Xiang Embroidery. As one of the four famous embroideries in China, Xiang Embroidery enjoys the reputation that “embroidered flowers can produce fragrance, embroidered birds can transmit sound, embroidered tiger can run, embroidered human can be vivid”, and is the traditional craft with the richest Hunan culture. As the birthplace of Xiang Embroidery, Shaping Ancient Town is known as the “Hometown of Chinese Embroidery”, which has a history of more than 2,000 years.
As soon as they entered the Shaping Xiang Embroidery Museum, the students were attracted by exhibits. Using the collection of Hunan embroidery, with pictures and text descriptions, and the media such as images, sculptures, scene layouts, and on-site interactive demonstrations, the Museum fully demonstrated the history and characteristics of Xiang embroidery culture. On the site of demonstration, the students are lingering and full of praise.
Afterwards, the international students also experienced the production process of Xiang Embroidery under the guidance of the staff of the Xiang Embroidery Museum. Their looks of piercing needles, cutting thread and needling are a kind of craftsman. They put their own embroidery products on embroidered bag and said that they would bring them back to their own countries.
Danon, a student from Cameroon, said: “China is a very magical place with a long history and so many traditional cultures that people yearn for. Choosing to study in China is the most correct choice he has made.” Shadray, a student from Yemen said: "The magical embroidery is as beautiful as the Chinese characters. All these deeply impressed on me! ”
After that, international students said that they chose to study in China and wanted to learn and understand China's modern civilization and excellent traditional culture. This visit not only enabled them to experience the production process of Hunan traditional handicraft products, but also deepened their understanding of Hunan and enhanced their friendship with students from all over the world. It would be an unforgettable experience during their study in China.
